Make LA the best place to LIVE
One of five LA2050 Goals
Our region’s residents have the economic means and cultural capital to lead active, healthy lives, and everyone benefits from a sustainable environment.
In 2050, Los Angeles will have the nation’s lowest obesity rates and every neighborhood will have access to healthy, affordable food. Every family will be able to afford quality health care and housing. And no families will face environmental health hazards because of where they live or how much money they make.
SBSM Healthy Tomorrow Initiative
$100,000 will supply two LAUSD high schools with state-of-the-art fitness centers, the SBSM curriculum and professional development training for the school’s physical education department. Following an eight-week implementation of the SBSM Curriculum, we expect to improve student passing rates by a minimum 25% on the Fitnessgram assessment (California State proficiency test for student physical fitness) as well as improve student’s perception of fitness and exercise at these high schools.
