Make LA the best place to LEARN
One of five LA2050 Goals
Our region offers opportunities for lifelong learning, allowing all residents to contribute their skills, talents, and abilities to society.
By 2050, all Los Angeles students will have access to early education programs, every high school student will graduate and be college and career ready, and all parents will be engaged and empowered to direct their children’s learning. LA will capitalize on its concentration of higher education facilities to foster new businesses, advance research, and spur innovation.
The Possibility Movement: Fueling the Next Generation of Difference-Makers in Los Angeles
Spark was founded with a simple belief, that regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status, all young people deserve opportunities to explore who they can become. Recognizing that not all communities have the same access to the resources that inspire successful futures, Spark aims to equalize the playing field for students by connecting them to meaningful workplace mentorships throughout Los Angeles. In partnership with passionate LA community members, we show young people what's possible. Learn more

Spark LA Youth Apprenticeships
What if everyday professionals could help improve LA’s dropout rate, right from their desks? By pairing students with mentors in exciting workplaces like Google and Hulu, Spark connects the dots between school and a future career. 69% of LA students drop out in 9th grade, but if mentors can ignite a spark in them—in 7th and 8th grade—students would be motivated to stay in school. With less than 1% of the LA workforce serving as a mentor, Spark could reach every off-track 7th and 8th grader. Learn more
