Idea about how to make LA a better place to learn, submitted by this organization in the 2019 challenge.
Make LA the best place to LEARN
One of five LA2050 Goals
Our region offers opportunities for lifelong learning, allowing all residents to contribute their skills, talents, and abilities to society.
By 2050, all Los Angeles students will have access to early education programs, every high school student will graduate and be college and career ready, and all parents will be engaged and empowered to direct their children’s learning. LA will capitalize on its concentration of higher education facilities to foster new businesses, advance research, and spur innovation.
Students Working Together to Engage with and Transform LA
LASA has a proven history and seeks support to continue this work to expand its foundational skills training of student activists; create additional partnerships - specifically with foster care students and new schools; ease transportation concerns; and introduce new modules on the decolonization of LA's water history, environmental impact, and the county-wide opportunities and infrastructural work involved in the 2028 Olympics. Idea about how to make LA a better place to connect, submitted by this organization in the 2015 challenge.
Make LA the best place to CONNECT
One of five LA2050 Goals
Our region is a place where every resident has the opportunity to engage and interact with other Angelenos and are empowered to contribute meaningfully in civic processes.
In 2050, Los Angeles will be the most civically engaged region in the U.S., with multiple online and offline platforms for residents to voice their opinions and influence elected officials, decision-makers, and local government. Our region’s voting rates and volunteerism will lead the nation, and an expanded network of transportation options will facilitate the easy flow of people and ideas.
The Los Angeles Service Academy
We seek philanthropic support to fund LASA's ongoing operations and next cohort of student participants in the 2016-2017 programmatic year. Specifically, LASA brings together high school juniors from all over Los Angeles County for an intensive week in the summer, plus one Saturday per month during the school year. Each meeting combines experts with field trips tied to themes critical to civic life in LA: transit, governance, water, the LA River, the harbor, law enforcement, food/housing, etc. Learn more
